A popular Japanese restaurant in New York is hiring a talented and passionate Sushi Chef to lead its Omakase service. The ideal candidate will have solid experience with sushi preparation, creative presentation skills, and a commitment to excellence in a fast-paced, professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve sushi, sashimi, and rolls with precision and artistry
- Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards at all times
- Collaborate with kitchen staff for efficient service
- Monitor and manage inventory levels
- Propose seasonal or innovative sushi menu items
- Train junior staff in sushi techniques and food safety
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Sushi Chef, preferably in fine dining or Omakase settings
- Excellent knife skills and deep knowledge of Japanese cuisine
- Understanding of food safety standards
- Strong teamwork and communication abilities
- Experience in catering or dietary departments is a plus
Salary
$1,000–$1,200 per week + tips (based on experience)
